On September 8, 2020, Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde and several other Supreme Court judges and their families visited the Amrit Udyan of Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on an invitation of the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.
The Chief Justice and the other judges were accompanied on the occasion by the President and first lady Savita Kovind. The visit was part of the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Samhita initiative. As part of Samhita, the President invites eminent guests to the gardens of the palace to share conversations focussing on literature, art, music, culture, science and Spirituality.
The Chief Justice, who was recently appointed to the Supreme Court, appreciated the effort of the President in developing the botanical garden. The President said that the Amrit Udyan is the symbol of joy and inspiration, the gushing fountains, the blossoming flowers, the enchanting trees and the chirping of the birds create a beautiful ambience.
The Chief Justice also planted saplings in the garden, which was a part of the visit. The plant that was planted will form a part of the Biodiversity in the garden. The President said that the garden was truly a peaceful retreat, amidst Nature and its beauty.
The Chief Justice thanked the President for the invitation and appreciated the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of the garden. He wished the garden all the best for the future and asked the President to continue making such efforts for the betterment of society.
